Income Loss to Randall County

IncomeLoss1The introduction of huge power lines across the North Palo Duro Canyon will bring with them the devastation of the property values all along the line, and, as a result, any future homes, hotels, spas or other ventures on the top land within sight of the line will not be built, or structures built will be of much lesser value.  (See Devastation of Property Values.)

Over time, this will cost Randall County millions in tax revenue due to destroying the value and potential of the area.  In addition, both Randall and Potter Counties, the City of Amarillo and businesses in the region will lose money that would have been spent by people who would have stayed at such establishments to experience the extraordinary beauty of the canyon.

In addition, the introduction of huge power lines along the landscape near the Palo Duro Canyon State Park will also affect tourism to the park area, turning people away who want to experience an escape from such sights.   The lines will pass over the entrance road to the park and will be the visitors first and last impressions of the Palo Duro Canyon State Park area.  These power lines also tend to multiply in number over time along such easements, which could create an even greater visible scar on the horizon in years to come.

Given the uniqueness of the canyon and the draw it creates, the losses will be substantial.
